I am writing to share with you an Awesome exercise I have been taking part of. I know some of you are reading this me being a Dru yoga instructor you are thinking what are we doing with our physical bodies now? Well guess what this exercise doesn't require physical movement. ah ha
I get regular emails from Hay House. If you like to get information about spiritual growth I can highly recommend you sign up for their news letters. Just in the past few weeks they have been offering free ebooks. I now have a couple of them myself. ;o) Okay I strayed here, but there is a point to this.
One of the news letter had an exert from a book that is written by Pam Grout best selling author of E-Squared. In her new book "Thank & Grow Rich" Pam gives a 30 day experiment on how to grow your abundance through joy and gratitude. Hay House and Pam Grout were kind enough in their news letter a couple of weeks ago to offer a taste of what you can find in the book.
Well, this little exercise really resonated with me so I thought what the heck I'm going to start trying this, and I did. It is very simple to do: Below please find this taken from the Hay House news letter dated 11/09/2016 written by Pam Grout:
- "STEP #1: Admit that… “something amazingly awesome is going to happen” to you today. First thing every morning, before you throw off your covers, before you leap out of bed, before you fire up the old Mr. Coffee, proclaim to the world that something unexpected, exciting, and amazingly awesome is headed your way today.
It takes, what, three, four seconds? Yet it’s one of the most important things I do each morning. The first few minutes of every day pre-paves the next 24 hours with positive expectations. It sets up a powerful intention, a forecast on which I choose to focus.
And it never fails to come true.
- STEP #2: Come to believe… in blessings and miracles. Pretend to be a private investigator assigned the task of finding all the beauty and largesse in the world. The dominant paradigm might suggest it is lacking, but practiced with regularity, this ritual will allow you to see things in a whole different light. Instead of looking for problems, be on the hunt for blessings. You’ll find, to paraphrase the line about the old radio character Chickenman, “They’re everywhere. They’re everywhere.”
- To make sure your thoughts don’t return to their slacking tendencies, text (or tweet or post them on Facebook or Instagram) three blessings (aka amazing awesomeness) each morning. The only stipulation is the items on the list have to be different every day.
I often liken myself to Lewis or Clark, scouting important new territory. Because we get out of life whatever we focus on, practicing these two simple steps has radically changed my life. It will change yours, too.
Try it for the next 30 days. Feel free to switch it up a bit, if you desire. For example, you could say, “Something magical is going to happen to me today.”
But each morning, no matter how you feel, no matter what is happening, say your phrase (if you want, add a fist pump) and text three blessings (new ones, no repeats) to a group of friends. Text it to your mother, if you have to. Or write it down. Just don’t repeat."
Like I said I told myself I was going to give it a try after reading the email I closed my eyes and repeated this phrase, "Something Awesome is going to happen to me today." Well that afternoon in the post I received 2 checks in the mail from my insurance company. They owed me a discount for signing up a second car last year and had only realised that hadn't given me the payment for it. Well, since then I have practiced every morning. It's been 10 days for me and every single day I have had something awesome happen! Instead of writing my grateful statements in the morning though I have been writing them at night in a journal. It works for me as I think to myself all day what 3 things will I be thankful for today? Especially since you can't repeat your grateful statements.
I just wanted to share this as I found it very useful, and hope that you will give it a try yourself. Please feel free to share any of your awesomeness in the comments below once you try this exercise your self.
Until next time.
